Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
208 PM SST Wed Dec 6 2017

.Short term...
TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT...Latest model runs show a line of
clouds moving in from the southwest through tonight. These clouds
are associated with the main trough axis to the southwest of the
Samoan Islands. With the ridge being pushed to the northeast,
expect numerous to occasional showers tonight and variable winds
to persist through the rest of the short term period.

.Long term...
SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...A broad area of high pressure system
further south of Tonga will continue to migrate eastward through
the new week. A developing low pressure system to the south of
Tonga will continue to move south as it pulls in all the moisture
from the north of the islands through the long term. Expect
improved weather features through the new week.

Wave Watch III model solutions and PacIOOs Aunu'u Wave Buoy both
agree on an upward trend in sea heights starting Saturday
afternoon due to a 5 to 7 feet southerly swell. This trend will
prompt the issuance of advisories for high surfs and small crafts.
For now...no significant swells.
