John Geddes (IV) served in the 27th regiment during the Peninsular War.
In 1836 John Geddes (IV) was made a Knight of the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order. This is the lowest order of this order. From Wikipedia:
"The Royal Guelphic Order, sometimes also referred to as the Hanoverian Guelphic Order, is a Hanoverian order of chivalry instituted on 28 April 1815 by the Prince Regent (later George IV). It has not been conferred by the British Crown since the death of King William IV in 1837, when the personal union of the United Kingdom and Hanover ended... In descending order of seniority, are: (1815-1841) Knight Grand Cross (GCH), Knight Commander (KCH), Knight (KH)"
Here is a (rather poor quality) photo of the badge of the Knight of the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order. I do not know whether this belonged to John Geddes.
