Career

He served with the 27th regiment of foot (Inniskillings) for nearly 30 years. He served in the Peninsular War, and was wounded in the battle of Toulouse. He became honary Colonel of the Inniskillings in 1860. See Career of John Geddes (IV).

Census returns show that in 1851, he was living with his brother David Geddes in 15 Salibury Road. Street directories say that he lived there from 1827-1842 at least.


Wife

Wife: Madelina Hessing (1801-1857). There were no children. From the census returns, in 1851, both his brother David and his niece Margaret were living with him and his wife.
