George IV George IV had already been Prince Regent for nine years when he became king, because of the madness of his father.

Brighton Pavilion

George built the Brighton Pavilion, a startling and exotic building for Britain. More sedate houses built during his reign are called Regency.
Opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway

In 1825 the Stockton and Darlington Railway opened. This was the first permanent steam locomotive railway. Eventually, railways transformed Britain.
