An example of a Celtic Knot from Northumberland
In 2004, I visited Newcastle-on-Tyne. This is a pattern from the Alnmouth stone cross, early 10th century. It is in the Museum of Antiquities, in the University of Newcastle. This is all one string, but I have coloured it in four colours so you can see how the different parts of the knot tie together. The colours go pink, red, dark red, purple, and back to pink again. This pattern makes me think of paperclips, somehow.
