Square Grid (circles)

Print off this page using the Print Button, or click on File/Print. Or you can right-click on the grid, which will let you print, save or copy just the grid. These grids are for circular mats where there are as many holes round the edge as the centre. This means they all have a hole in the centre.

Large circular edge surrounds large hole in middle
Small circular edge surrounds small hole in middle
Large, combined circular edge surrounds hole gap in middle
Thin circular edge surrounds hole gap in middle

The first circular grid is for a circular edge. You can use any straight edging, but curve it round. There are 144 holes round the edge, so the repeat pattern must fit into this number. The factors of 144 are 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 16, 18, 24, 36, 48, 72, so any pattern of one of these widths would fit.

Torchon Circle

This grid has a smaller hole in the centre, so could be used for a mat (with a hole in the middle!) Here there are 40 holes round the edge. The factors of 40 are 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, so any pattern of one of these widths would fit. The right grid has the lines of normal Torchon ground marked, so you can see where the lines go.

You can combine the previous two grids to create a large, nearly all filled-in circle. You will have to work the two parts separately and then sew them together or linked together. I have made the two grids with different coloured holes so you don't get them confused!

Torchon Circle 1 & 2

This is similar to the first grid above, but it has 180 holes round the edge, so the repeat pattern must fit into this number. The factors of 180 are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 30, 36, 45, 60, 90 so any pattern of one of these widths would fit. The version on the right draws the grid lines in, so you can see what's happening.
