After doing pattern 284, I wanted to try a different way of doing a Cretan maze. This is just a strip, which makes starting and finishing easier, but means more bobbins! It shows the paths of the maze rather than the walls.

The first row of the lace starts at the top left, with one pair working across all others using cloth stitch and twist. It ends up on the right, where it then joins the rest as part of the Torchon ground or twisted footside. The passive pair in the footside is also worked across every pair (except the edge pairs). These first two rows frame the lace. There are a similar two rows at the end.
